Engineering and Computer Science Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are specifically managed by the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The university offers other scholarships that students are encouraged to pursue.

The college awards scholarships in the fall and spring semesters. Fall scholarships are due October 8 and spring scholarships are due February 2 each academic year unless otherwise noted. College of Engineering and Computer Science Scholarships
Eric Alexander Engineering and Computer Science Scholarship

Awards are available to undergraduate engineering or computer science students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and who have completed more than 30 credit hours. Preference will be given to students from the Treasure Coast area (Martin and St. Lucie Counties). This scholarship may be renewed for up to four consecutive years if 3.0 GPA is maintained. Pre-engineering students are not eligible for this award.

Gary & Wendy Enzor First Generation Scholarship Fund

Award available to a full-time College of Engineering and Computer Science student who has a minimum 3.25 Cumulative FAU GPA and demonstrated financial need (as determined by the current year’s FAFSA). Preference will be given to first generation students (as determined by the current year’s FAFSA). This scholarship is to be used for tuition and fees only.

Karl K. Stevens Student Scholarship

Award available to all junior or senior engineering or computer science students who have displayed leadership while in college.

Spring Scholarship | $1,000 | Application


FAU SECME Scholarships

Awards of $3,000 per year are available to a limited number of students from SECME High Schools in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Selection Criteria: Students must meet the academic requirements for admission to FAU and have participated in the SECME program for a minimum of one year. Renewable for up to four years based on academic achievement. Applicants must major in Engineering, Mathematics or Science, achieve a minimum score of 1450 (all three sections) on the SAT or a 21 on the ACT and submit the items listed below.

Civil, Environmental, Geomatics Engineering Scholarships
Florida Water Environment Association Scholarship

Award available to a full-time Civil, Environmental or Geomatics engineering student with more than 60 credits who demonstrates an interest in water resources, water, and wastewater treatment and related fields. Applicants must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, merit and potential for contribution to the field & profession, and be a member of the Florida Water Environment Association.

Spring Scholarship | $1,000 | Application

Keith and Schnars, P.A. Scholarship Endowment

Award available to a junior or senior Civil, Environmental or Geomatics engineering student with a minimum 2.5 GPA who has potential to be a leader in Civil or Geomatics engineering. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen or a local South Florida resident.

Fall Scholarship | $900 | Application

Minto Communities, Inc. Scholarship

Established in 2006 by Minto Communities, Inc. to provide scholarships to part-time or full-time students currently enrolled in undergraduate Civil, Environmental or Geomatics engineering degrees.  The recipient(s) of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following minimum criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Legal Florida resident
  • Upper division Status (Junior or Senior)
  • Verifiable financial need (as determined by the current year’s FAFSA)

Computer Engineering or Computer Science Scholarship
Racal-Datacom Award of Excellence

Award available to a senior undergraduate student majoring in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic achievement, and involvement/interest in the telecommunications field. Extra consideration will be given to minority or female applicants, and to applicants who have not previously won a scholarship at FAU.

Electrical Engineering Scholarships
AT&T Scholarship

Awarded per term for a limit of 4 terms to an FAU electrical engineering student that maintains a minimum GPA of 3.3. Preference is given to minorities and deserving and academically qualified non-traditional-age women studying electrical engineering.

Racal-Datacom Award of Excellence

Award available to a senior undergraduate student majoring in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science. See The Endless Possibilities (STEP) Endowed Engineering Scholarship in Memory of Gabe Malavenda

Award open to a full-time undergraduate student with a declared engineering or computer science major. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need (as determined by the current year’s FAFSA) and a minimum 2.75 GPA or higher to apply.  Preference will be given to female students studying electrical engineering, and to students who have overcome substantial educational or economic obstacles and who demonstrate high community engagement. Pre-professional engineering students are not eligible for this award.

Graduate Student Scholarships

Dean’s Fellowship
Applicants must be full-time PhD students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science with a minimum 3.6 GPA. The applicant must have passed the Qualifying/Candidacy Exam whiting the past year. For example, if the application is submitted in Spring 2024, then the applicant must have passed the Qualifying/Candidacy Exam in Spring 2023 or Fall 2023 semesters. To be eligible, stud ents must be enrolled full time in the semester when they receive the fellowship. Applicants must not have previously won thi s award.

Dr. Steven G. Schock Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to provide educational and/or research opportunities to students and/or faculty of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The scholarship will be presented to a graduate student in the FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science who is pursuing an advanced degree in ocean engineering, electrical engineering or computer science and has an interest in underwater acoustic technology with the intent of having a career in this field. This may include scientific research, design and development of instrumentation or the application of the technology to address known or future needs. In addition to the award, the candidate may have an opportunity to receive a paid internship for a semester at EdgeTech in Boca Raton, FL (per signed gift agreement 2011). Applicants must have not previously won this award.

Gangal Family Endowed Graduate Scholarship
Award available to a full-time master or PhD student in the College of Engineering and Computer Science who has a minimum 3.5 GPA. The applicant must be an international student from India or a student of Indian descent. Preference will be given to students studying biomedical engineering. Funds will be disbursed in consecutive fall/spring or spring/fall semesters. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full time in the semesters when they receive the scholarship. Applicants must have not previously won this award.

Mechanical Engineering Scholarships
Andrew Montano Memorial Scholarship

Open to an incoming freshman, sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0, who possesses unmet financial need, (as determined by the current year’s FAFSA) and is a mechanical engineering major.

ASME Student Membership Scholarship

Award available to a full-time junior or senior mechanical engineering major. The scholarship recipient must be an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and in good standing with the University. All students are encouraged to apply regardless of GPA.

Award open to a full-time undergraduate student majoring in mechanical engineering with an overall 3.5 GPA or higher.  Preference will be given to female students and/or US veterans studying mechanical engineering.

Denys Akhurst Ocean Engineering Scholarship 

Academic scholarship awarded during fall to a student entering their OE junior year with a 3.0 GPA or higher and who demonstrates financial need, as determined by the current year’s FAFSA. Pre-Engineering majors are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

J.M. Rubin Ocean Engineering Sophomore Scholarship

Academic scholarship awarded during fall and spring to a student entering their OE sophomore year with a 3.25 GPA or higher. Pre-Engineering majors are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

J.M. Rubin Ocean Engineering Junior Scholarship

Academic scholarship awarded during fall to a student entering their OE junior year with a 3.25 GPA or higher. Pre-Engineering majors are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Academic scholarship awarded during fall to a student entering their OE senior year with a 3.25 GPA or higher. Pre-Engineering majors are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
